The story of the Piquero brand

The Piquero brand has an interesting story based on Panamanian folklore. One Panamanian legend considers the blue-footed sula, the bird on the Piquero label, to be the patron saint of good rum. By the way, this kind of bird is called Piquero by locals.

An interesting story has been preserved in folk literature, which says that while walking along one of the Panamanian coasts, a nest of Piquero birds with unusual contents was discovered. It did not contain eggs, but a dusty bottle of very old rum. The young man who found the nest was surprised to pick up the bottle and decided to take it with him.

After arriving home, the villagers decided to taste the rum, and as soon as they did, everyone was left speechless. It was the best rum they had ever tasted! They associated this experience with the nest where the bottle was found and from that moment on they began to consider the Piquero birds as patrons of good rum.
